COVID-19 AT OAKURA MEDICAL

Oakura Medical Centre is here for our community throughout the Covid-19 pandemic. We have protocols in place to allow us to remain open throughout all Covid-19 levels so that we can continue to look after the ongoing health needs of our population regardless of the barriers.

Under Covid-19 restrictions, we will have measures in place to keep our patients and staff safe. Covid-19 has forced an evolution of health care and may result in alternative consultation options being offered but one thing we will never compromise on is your safety.

If you have any symptoms of Covid-19 or could have been in contact with anyone who could be infected please phone through before visiting our facility.

COVID-19 TESTING

At Oakura Medical we feel it is important to be able to offer timely Covid-19 testing on site. Please contact reception to book your swab so we can have you tested without delay.

If you have any of the following symptoms please contact the medical centre for advice:

  • a fever of at least 38°C

  • a new or worsening cough

  • sore throat

  • shortness of breath

  • sneezing and runny nose

  • temporary loss of smell or altered sense of taste.

Less common symptoms may include:

  • diarrhoea, headache, muscle pain or body aches, nausea, vomiting, confusion or irritability.

These symptoms do not necessarily mean you have COVID-19. The symptoms are like other illnesses that are much more common, such as colds and flu.

COVID-19 VACCINATION

In early 2020, a new coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) spread quickly around the world. It caused a serious disease called COVID-19, which has since killed over 4 million people.

To protect those we love, Aotearoa New Zealand went into lockdown. We also introduced Alert Levels, managed borders, contact tracing and started sanitising our hands and wearing face coverings to stay safe.

Getting vaccinated is the next step to gain more protection against the virus, which will lead to more certainty for the future.

Oakura Medical will be providing the Phizer Covid-19 vaccination for our population from the start of September. We will be running regular clinics and will be trying our hardest to do this efficiently as possible but please be patient.
